A ball rolling @ a velocity of 1.5m/s and has a momentum of 10kg. m/s,what is the mass of the ball?

Good Day...

Problem:

A ball rolling at a velocity of 1.5m/s and has a momentum of 10kg. m/s,what is the mass of the ball?

Given Data:

V (velocity) = 1.5 m/s

p (momentum) = 10 kg.m/s

m (mass)    = ? unknown

Solution:

  • This problem can be solved using the formula of momentum which is p = m×v
  • So if m (mass) is unknown we can used the formula for mass which is m = p / v

m = p / v

   = 10 kg.m/s / 1.5 m/s  (cancel the unit m/s)

m  = 6.67 kg

Answer:

The mass of the ball is 6.67 kg

Hope it helps...=)
